On 16-17 May 2008 ICYF-DC and ISESCO are planning to hold the OIC inter-governmental Meeting of high-level experts in our Istanbul Headquarters.   Thinkers Forum will be presenting a report on the "Massacres perpetrated against Muslim Communities throughout the 20th century" to be presented as a working paper for the OIC Inter-governmental Meeting of Experts. The report is to be commissioned as ICYF-DC official document and to analyze the common patterns behind the massacres, the impacts of these events on the general mindset of the Muslim communities and the historic lessons to be drawn out of them.

This seminar will focus on learning lessons from renowned contemporary & historical figures, scholars, role models & personalities, about their lives, sacrifices and how we can benefit from their achievements and leadership.   Famous figures include Al-Biruni, Al-Ghazali, Malcolm X, Yusuf Islam, Hazrat Ali (ra), Ibn Battuta, Muhammad Bin Qassim, Al Khwarzimic, Allama Iqbal, Abu Hanifa, Al Shafi'i, Martin Lings, Pickthall, Ahmed Deedat, Salahuddin Ayubi, Muhammad Ali Johar, Bukhari, Imran Khan and Mohammed Ali.

"Iqraa" The First Islamic Youth Leadership Forum is a comprehensive youth leadership training program jointly organized by Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) represented by Iqraa Organization for Human Relations (IOHR) and Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation (ICYF-DC), will be held in Cairo, Egypt on 28 May - 6 June 2008.

The programme aims to provide high-level comprehensive training and intellectual development of the best representatives of youth of the OIC countries.

Muslims constitute an important part of British society; the majority come from different parts of the world, but some a minority and relatively new are indigenous. In this context, The Department of Theology and Religion at the University of Birmingham is planning a Spring Symposium entitled The Future of Islam in Britain as part of Dr. Haifaa Jawad’s current work on the subject. The aim is to investigate the intellectual contributions of British Muslims, especially new Muslims to the religion of Islam, and explore their roles in shaping our social and theological landscapes, with particular focus on the development of a ‘British Islam’.

The College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Sharjah holds its 1st International Conference on the History of Science among Muslims and Arabs in conjunction with the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies and the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences. The significance of this conference stems from the fact that it highlights the links amongst natural sciences, including Astronomy, Space Sciences, Engineering, Medical and Basic Sciences, as well as the Islamic Sharia Sciences. It also emphasises the role of the Arabs in establishing these sciences and the contribution of Islamic culture to human civilisation.

With approx 3 billion people living on less than $2 per day (~50% of worlds population) we as human beings and muslims specifically have a divine duty to help/support all those who are disadvantaged and in need. The poor people around the world are not in a position to fight for their own rights and freedoms as they are immersed in extreme poverty, and are too busy struggling to acquire basic needs (food, shelter, clothing, education, health) to keep themselves and their families alive. We must campaign and lobby for their rights both as individuals and through organisations/pressure groups. read more
