OIC Inter-Governmental History & Cultures Meeting, Turkey - 16-17 May 2008

On 16-17 May 2008 ICYF-DC and ISESCO are planning to hold the OIC inter-governmental Meeting of high-level experts in our Istanbul Headquarters.

 

Thinkers Forum will be presenting a report on the "Massacres perpetrated against Muslim Communities throughout the 20th century" to be presented as a working paper for the OIC Inter-governmental Meeting of Experts. The report is to be commissioned as ICYF-DC official document and to analyze the common patterns behind the massacres, the impacts of these events on the general mindset of the Muslim communities and the historic lessons to be drawn out of them.

'The Future of Islam in Britain, New Muslims Perspective' - 3/4 March 2008 - Birmingham, UK

Muslims constitute an important part of British society; the majority come from different parts of the world, but some a minority and relatively new are indigenous. In this context, The Department of Theology and Religion at the University of Birmingham is planning a Spring Symposium entitled The Future of Islam in Britain as part of Dr. Haifaa Jawad’s current work on the subject. The aim is to investigate the intellectual contributions of British Muslims, especially new Muslims to the religion of Islam, and explore their roles in shaping our social and theological landscapes, with particular focus on the development of a ‘British Islam’.

An Introduction To The Science Of Sacred Astronomy - 8th Sept @ 10am - London, UK

Each year the Muslim community is in disarray over the start and end
of Ramadan, i.e. sighting of the moon (hilal). Blame can be attributed
to intolerence of valid theological differences and uncompromising
positions according to sectarian politics from people's countries of
