OIC Inter-Governmental History & Cultures Meeting, Turkey - 16-17 May 2008

On 16-17 May 2008 ICYF-DC and ISESCO are planning to hold the OIC inter-governmental Meeting of high-level experts in our Istanbul Headquarters.

 

Thinkers Forum will be presenting a report on the "Massacres perpetrated against Muslim Communities throughout the 20th century" to be presented as a working paper for the OIC Inter-governmental Meeting of Experts. The report is to be commissioned as ICYF-DC official document and to analyze the common patterns behind the massacres, the impacts of these events on the general mindset of the Muslim communities and the historic lessons to be drawn out of them.   This initiative of ICYF-DC is part of an ongoing process of enhancing solidarity among youth of OIC countries and raising international awareness on critical issues of history and culture of this geography.
	The task of the meeting is to set up OIC Memorial Day as a common date of commemoration of massacres perpetrated against Muslim communities in XX century and design cultural and educational programs and actions to draw out historic lessons from the tragic past while building brighter future.

Thinkers Forum aim to be a part of this process and endeavour to make a lasting contribution.
