What Is The Global 'Campaign for the Poor' Movement ?

Mission

To mobilise world-wide efforts to protect and promote the rights of all poor people, especially the right to basic needs through a state social welfare system, which guarantees free education, health, food, shelter, clothing and basic sanitation as well as opportunities to work and earn a livelihood for their family free from economic exploitation and which allows positive physical, mental, spiritual, moral or social development.

The TFI Global ‘Campaign for the Poor’ is a movement born out of hope to save the victims of exploitation, bring worldwide awareness and address the issue of poverty, its causes and solutions on a global agenda. Having partners in numerous countries, the movement grows stronger with each passing day.

How You Can Contribute?
There are still approx 3 billion people living below the poverty line i.e. <$2 per day, in the world today who survive under extremely difficult and exploitative conditions despite massive technological and economic advances globally. The difference between the rich and poor, haves and have-nots is widening. Our work is incomplete until their lives improve, ultimately through the establishment of a universal state social welfare system which guarantees their basic needs provision. Your contribution and involvement will take us one step forward in reaching out to them.

Working on numbers is one thing, and direct efforts to end poverty have always been a part of the Global ‘Campaign for the Poor’ partner programmes. The Global ‘Campaign for the Poor’ seeks to eliminate poverty by questioning, attacking and changing the very systems and policies that cause poverty in the first place at the global, regional and national levels. What is key therefore, in the fight to end poverty, is the need to advocate for policy changes. Bringing together policy and action for a unified response both in the short-medium and long term, ultimately to establish a social system which guarantees basic needs provision for all.

The dedicated partners, activists and supporters of the Global ‘Campaign for the Poor’ Movement form an effective network around the world. Acting as vigilant observers and lobbying with governments in their region, they form the backbone of the movement.

Objectives

• Raise A High Level Of Public Concern And Awareness About Global Poverty, Causes & Solutions 
• Urge States To Ratify And Enforce Existing Conventions And Laws On Eliminating & Reducing Poverty At Its Source 
• Mobilise The Maximum Possible National & International Resources To Support Basic Needs Provision For All Human Beings
• To Bring Together Policy And Action For A Unified Response To Socio-Economic Development & Poverty Alleviation 
• Promote Positive Actions By Governments, Stakeholders, Employers And Consumers
• Ensure The Proper Rehabilitation, Recognition And Reintegration Of The Worlds Poor Community
• Mobilise Public Opinion And Action Against The Broader Injustices Contributing To Global Poverty
• Mobilise Public Opinion For The Establishment Of Social Welfare Systems In An Interest-Free Economy For The Long-Term Solution To Global Poverty

The TFI Global ‘Campaign for the Poor’ Movement mobilises public opinion and action against the social, cultural and economic injustices within societies that contribute to poverty, such as discrimination, the unfair distribution of land and resources, illegal labour practices, usury based transactions and massive unemployment; and also against injustices between nations, such as the indebtedness of the South, inappropriate Structural Adjustment Programs & policies of the IMF & World Bank, trade practices and the unfair terms of globalization by the rich against the poor.
